Why Nintendo Switch is the Best Kids and Family Console

One of the greatest joys of working with MobiTraderSA is the ability to test all the latest gaming consoles, accessories, and features. From the PS5 VR2 through to the latest Nintendo Switch OLED, we get to see what the consoles are like, helping us guide our customers to buying the right console for their needs.

The Nintendo Switch range shouldn't be compared to other leading gaming brands such as PlayStation and Xbox. It's a completely unique gaming experience with features that's not available on any other console.

Those who follow our blog might have noticed that we're huge PlayStation 5 fans; it's an incredible console that we can talk about for days, especially when you add the PS5 VR2. When our first second-hand Nintendo Switch arrived, we were impressed with the quality, but couldn't quite understand who would want it, that's until we played on it.

Disconnect the Joy Cons and Play Switch Sport

One of the first features that stood out was the removable Joy Con controllers. These disconnect for a number of reasons, allowing more flexibility in your gaming style. For example, you don't have to hold the entire console in your hands to play, but can rather place the screen on a table and have a controller in each hand; it's a very comfortable way to play.

Alternatively, you can connect the dock to your TV by plugging in the HDMI cable and power supply, turning your Nintendo Switch into a brilliant gaming console on the big screen.

We decided to try the Nintendo Switch Sports game, offering a range of interesting competitive sports such as Golf, Basketball, Tennis, and more.

The Joy Con controllers turn into more than just buttons as these now begin to track your movement. You'll need to attach the straps, which is standard with any Nintendo Switch and Switch OLED model.

Challenge Friends and Family or Play Safely Online

Every Nintendo Switch (excluding the Switch Lite) comes standard with 2 Joy Cons controllers, allowing you to play motion games with 2 players simultaneously, or up to 4 players can take turns with one or two controllers, depending if you're left or right handed.

The games were entertaining and can become very competitive. However, Nintendo did a great job at catering to all experience levels and player ages. Just because you can't switch a golf club perfectly, it doesn't mean you can't join the fun and become really good at it.

The quick and easy guide for every game ensures your know exactly how everything works, and you might just figure out some additional tricks to enhance your game such as putting backspin on the ball.

Every player will get a turn to swing, shoot, aim, and play, all while getting off the couch and trying to perfect the movement to improve scores. The games don't take too long and also don't require a lot of effort; don't expect to be out of breath or anything, but rather to be entertained with friends and family.

Playing online is brilliant for kids. There's no chatting, which means no need for parents to worry about harassment or bullying. The most engaging online players can be is stickers, which are carefully designed to keep the gaming spirits up. Players are also matched up based on their skill levels, ensuring fairness across the selection of games.

Play your Favourite Games on the Go

Easily slide in the controllers to each side of the Nintendo Switch to turn the console into the perfect mobile gaming console with a massive 6.2 inch (Switch v1 and v2) or 7 inch (Switch OLED) screen for the perfect gaming view.

There are thousands of games available, many of which are free when you join the Nintendo online platform for just R59 per month. From various versions of Mario Kart to Fortnite and even Call of Duty, the Nintendo Switch is the perfect console for everyone who wants to play on the move.

The battery life is very impressive with OLED models offering up to 9 hours of constant gaming. You can also recharge the console in the car with a USB cable, making the possibilities endless.

Nintendo Switch - Best for Family and Kids - Our Conclusion

While the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X consoles beat the Nintendo Switch in terms of graphics and processing power, there's no denying the unique benefits the Nintendo Switch offers for younger players and families.

Very few Xbox and Playstation games offer multiplayer options, and even those that do, usually require more than one console so you can play online. The Nintendo Switch is the only console that will get the kids to willingly get off the couch and participate in movement games.

The best part of it all, it's not just for kids, a group of our friends (ages ranging from 24 to 41) ended up playing the Nintendo Switch Sport games for hours, leaving the PS5 and other high-end consoles one side as we compete for the best scores.

So, next time you're looking for a console that offers motion gaming, playing on the move, and is safe for online gaming, consider the Nintendo Switch, we at MobiTraderSA can assure you it's a brilliant choice!
