Buying Online Games vs. Disc Games

The Playstation Network and Xbox store wants you to buy digital games, but is it really the best choice in the long run?

It's become quick and easy to buy all your favourite games from the Playstation Network or even the Xbox live platform. Simply sign in, add your bank details and you're ready to buy the games on offer.

The stores offer various promotions and discounts, making it cheaper to buy the digital games. With the monthly subscription you'll even score free games. Sure, they might not be exactly what you want, but it's free, so why not?

Is it Really the Best Choice to get the Most for Your Console?

While this is convenient, many don't consider the resell value of their consoles and games. When buying games online, they form part of your account, meaning you cannot sell them again.

Games that you'll play forever are fine, but what about those titles you just want to play once and then move on to the next game? You can't sell the game, you can trade with your mates, the game is yours and can only be yours.

Even at MobiTrader SA, we don't offer anything for digital games as we need to reset the console. This means all the digital games are wiped off and cannot be used by the next owner.

But I Can Sell My Console with the Digital Games, Right?

Some people sell their consoles with their accounts, which is a bad idea, not only for the buyer, but seller as well.

As the seller, you're giving the next owner access to your account. This means you'll never be able to use the account account and would need to create a new one if you ever get a gaming console again.

You also stand the risk of the new owner gaining access to your bank account and personal details as the console has not been reset in the right way. Therefore, they can recover your details and possibly purchase items and games through your account. Selling your console with your account has no benefit and is incredibly risky.

As the buyer, you might think you're getting a good deal with loads of games. However, keep in mind that you're buying someone's account. This means it's linked to their email and they have the ability to take back ownership of the account at any time. You'll also struggle to load new banking details, get notifications, setup email verifications and more.

Even contacting the Playstation Network or Xbox Live if they previous owner took back the account would be useless. Both the networks would tell you they cannot do anything as the registered email is the owner of the account.

There's also no way of switching over the account to your email or making the account yours. The original owner would always be able to reclaim ownership of the account.

Buying Disc Games and Save!

Sure, disc games cost bit more some times, but it's not like they are double the price, and even if they were, you'll be able to recover your money when you sell the game. We always run specials on our games, making us cheaper than the Playstation store and Xbox live store. Follow us on Facebook to keep up with our weekly offers.

The new owner of the disc game doesn't need any of your details as the game's license is on the disc. Therefore, it can have multiple owners over the years and none of them would have any trouble at all.

If you'd like to save on disc games, consider buying used games. There are secondhand game markets all over, and you can also buy directly from MobiTraderSA.com.

We offer a massive range of titles for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and PS4. Our disc games are as much as 90% cheaper than the brand new ones and work perfectly fine.

It also doesn't matter where you are, we send the games straight to your via Courier Guy or to your nearest Postnet. Once you're done with the game, sell it to one of your friends, trade it, or sell it back to MobiTrader SA and get another one.

We strive to make it easy for gamers, not only to get the games and accessories you want, but to do it safely and avoid the scammers.
